From Restaurants to Peptides: An Interview with Christopher Mercer, Founder of Limitless Life Nootropics

Today’s blog post is a deep-dive with Christopher Mercer, the founder and CEO of Limitless Life Nootropics

Despite being a “newborn” in a sea of online research peptide stores who have been around for ages, he has skyrocketed towards international recognition and success in an extraordinarily short period of tie.

This interview chronicles how Christopher got started from the grounds up as a restaurant owner with ZERO experience or knowledge of peptides.

Enjoy!

A Nootropics Vendor Makes a Transformational Switch

Q: Chris, what motivated you to start a company involving the distribution of therapeutic peptides? Why target this extremely obscure niche of health products?

A: As the name suggests, Limitless Life Nootropics was started in 2016 and focused on cognition-enhancing supplements. The only peptides I knew of which had anything to do with brain health were Semax, Selank, and Noopept.

Ceretropic was the only other legitimate company at the time that offered these products, as other online vendors were quite shady when it came to product quality.

(Editor’s Note: Ceretropic permanently closed their doors on June 22, 2018).

There was a LOT left to be desired in terms of consistently delivering peptides of the highest quality to scientific researchers.

It seemed to be a good niche to target, seeing as I would be one of the first to pay it some serious attention.

As I started to learn more about peptides and their health benefits, they seemed like a more viable product worth targeting.

The nootropics I was selling didn’t have nearly as much evidence to support their claims of cognitive enhancement.

I believe Modafinil is still the only smart drug that had the standard of scientific and real-world results I was looking for, but that’s a prescription-only drug given to narcolepsy patients.

Big Pharma obviously wasn’t doing their job when it came to researching therapeutic peptides thoroughly, likely because they just aren’t as profitable.

So it was really up to independent researchers and smaller companies to do the work in discovering these peptides and manufacturing them.

Q: I’ve definitely had a similar observation, as peptides are far more versatile in the number of health benefits they provide and the significance of their effects. Burning fat, boosting immunity, building muscle – all things which would not be possible with nootropics.

A: Exactly right.

The vast majority of nootropics don’t show any real long-term benefits.

Peptides, on the other hand, lead to improvements in health that are both positive and permanent.

It’s why our business right now is 90% peptides and 10% nootropics.

Jumping Over Regulatory Roadblocks For Peptides

Q: As you’re well aware, there are very few compounding pharmacies in existence who are manufacturing these peptides. Not to mention the number of medical and legal roadblocks that doctors have to jump through in order to prescribe these peptides to patients. How did you deal with these issues?

A: When I started my shift towards therapeutic peptides, I had no clue about any of these issues.

It was only when I investigated further that I realized just how suppressed peptides are in the healthcare industry.

Let me make myself more clear – I’m not suggesting that pharmaceutical companies are outright trying to bury peptides into non-existence.

What I’m saying is peptides are definitely not as freely available for human consumption as other experimental medicines.

Likely because they want more research done, yet Big Pharma is not going to fund or run these studies themselves.

Q; I always found this to be especially odd. If you TRULY wanted to know whether peptides were safe for human consumption or not, wouldn’t you want to promote further testing and make a definitive case for – or against – their use in humans?

A: It doesn’t make any sense.

I know that President Trump passed an executive order a while back which stated that if you and your doctor want to try something experimental that’s not approved by the FDA, it should be strictly between you and the doctor.

(Editor’s Note: This was known as the Right to Try Act of 2017, which allowed “certain unapproved, experimental drugs to be administered to terminally ill patients who have exhausted all approved treatment options and are unable to participate in clinical drug trials.”)

I figured it was the green light for compounding pharmacies and ill patients who wanted access to something that was potentially-life saving.

Unfortunately, it seems like that’s not going to happen due to several big-name pharmacies being targeted in recent times.

From Obscurity to Worldwide Recognition Despite ZERO Scientific Background

Q: What I found most interesting about Limitless Life Nootropics was how quickly you rose up on Page 1 in Google search for certain “hot item” peptides. Especially compared to many other stores that have been around for decades yet remain in complete obscurity. How did you accomplish this?

A: What I noticed with most peptide companies is a major lack of trust between them and the customers they are targeting.

If you look up independent third-party reviews online, you’ll find an even mix of positive and negative reviews.

In my case, I had a near-zero budget for advertising.

I was still managing a small restaurant when I started my company.

Social media was the real catalyst for getting my company out there.

But all of our marketing efforts pale in comparison to the stellar reputation we’ve established for ourselves.

If you go on Google, Facebook, or Reddit, we have consistently had several unsolicited 5-star reviews from customers who were happy with both the quality of our peptides and the professionalism of our customer service support.

In fact, for the past few years we have been the only peptides company in existence (to my knowledge) that even has Google reviews set up.

Unlike other review systems, you cannot erase reviews.

You can only respond to people and present your side of the story.

Our three main areas of focus have always been peptide quality, peptide purity, and customer service from the get-go.

And because of that, we were able to grow quite quickly in the peptides space.

Q: Fascinating. Did you have any kind of science background or degree prior to getting started in the peptides industry?

A: Not at all. I am 100% self-taught, which elicits different responses from people.

Some people will say that’s the only way to go and others find it to be a red flag.

Either way, I have been passionate about peptides for a very long time.

There are several health issues in my family, my wife included.

As I was doing my research on treatments lying outside of the box, I discovered peptides and everything took off from there.

I wouldn’t be able to talk about peptides from a biochemistry standpoint.

All the different mechanisms of actions, the precise ways it works in the body, and so on.

The scientific lingo was never my forte, so I leave that all to the biochemists.

All I’m here to do is provide peptides of unbeatable quality to deserving customers.

I’m not here to overstep my expertise because I know exactly where I belong.

Q: I continue to be amazed at how people with decades of experience in manufacturing and science fail to consider these basic principles of selling and marketing. Even without all of their resources or knowledge, you somehow deliver peptides in a way that outshines all of them.

A: I know that Jay has spent a considerable amount of time looking into a reputable peptides vendor with no success.

He ended up finding me through word-of-mouth, which is how almost all of my customers end up discovering my store.

All of my clients are happy and having nothing bad to say about me or my peptides, which leads to an endless number of referrals.

I’m beyond blessed to be in the position I am right now.

Expanding The Peptides Inventory, One At A Time

Q: How often do you end up adding brand new peptides to your pipeline? Do you aim to introduce a certain number of peptides every year?

A: As I said before, I don’t have investors or large amounts of disposable cash.

So it’s definitely been a slow process in terms of expansion.

There’s a lot of effort which goes behind adding a new peptide for sale.

I have to do my background research and see if a peptide is legitimately useful.

I have to investigate how much demand there is for it.

I need to see how much of my existing profit I can put towards a new product.

And then there’s all of the thousands of steps behind manufacturing and testing for product quality.

Q: Let me grill you more. What specifically will Limitless Life Nootropics be adding in the near future?

A: Ideally, I would like to have at least 20 new peptides available over the next year.

ARA 290 will be one of the newcomers, which may help reduce pain and improve overall health span.

There’s also N-Acetyl Semax, an analog of Semax which I believe deserves much more research for its ability to stimulate BDNF production and potentially act as an anti-anxiety agent.

There’s just so much out there that I want to make available on Limitless Life Nootropics.

I want to provide customers with a selection easily rivaling what you would expect from larger peptide vendors.

Chris’ Favorite Therapeutic Peptides You MUST Know About

Q: Ok, I want to know the truth. What are FIVE badass peptides you think are absolute must-haves for any fully optimized man or woman and why?

A: I already have a few off the top of my head.

BPC-157One of the all-around peptides for general health, no contest.

In addition to bringing critical neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine back to normal levels, it has phenomenal effects on healing injuries and wounds.

And don’t forget the emerging research about its positive effects on irritable bowel syndrome and other gut issues.

(Editor’s Note: I’ve already written a deep-dive article about BPC-157 that highlights all of these benefits and several others)

Thymosin Alpha 1This peptide has been around for some time.

It’s approved in other countries for limited uses, but it will be a game-changer for strengthening the immune system.

Some studies show great potential for using Thymosin Alpha 1 in disease states such as Hepatitis B & C.

TB-500Like BPC-157, it also has some amazing healing properties.

It’s been around for 20+ years and it’s only now where we are seeing it used in humans.

It has also demonstrated some significant cardioprotective and anti-viral effects.

LL-37: In addition to being a powerful anti-inflammatory agent, it also has anti-viral and anti-fungal effects.

Some research suggests it may even be more effective than conventional antibiotic medications.

VIP (vasoactive intestinal peptide): I believe some scientists are using VIP to treat Lyme disease, to help repair the brain from damage inflicted by these diseases.

They’re giving it another name (Aviptadil), but they’re using it to help fight respiratory problems in people infected with COVID-19.

Q: Is there any common factor that lands these peptides in your Top 5 list?

A: All of these peptides are already in your body and naturally produced.

They are made synthetically and sold in such a manner, but they are bio-identical in nature as they are 100% based on what is already inside of us.

We’re only beginning to tap into the human body’s unique mechanisms for self-healing.

Whatever sickness or illness you may have, we already have what we need to fight them.

All we might have to do is artificially boost the concentration of these peptides to solve problems that pharmaceutical medications can’t.

But in addition to curing illnesses, we can also use these same peptides to stay healthy and achieve higher levels of health beyond what is considered to be normal.

However, in order for this to happen on a global scale, we need properly done research studies.

And that can’t happen unless we have peptides of the highest purity to generate accurate and legitimate results.

Q: Let’s give readers a bonus and add a sixth peptide to the list. Out of all the cognition-enhancing peptides you’re currently selling, which one would be your #1 recommendation?

A: It’s kind of a toss-up between N-Acetyl Semax Amidate and Dihexa, yet out of the two I would have to pick the former.

There’s a bit more research out there (even though it’s largely anecdotal), but I would love to see more thorough studies in humans.

It’s far more potent than ordinary Semax as it crosses the blood-brain barrier more effectively, and it would be revolutionary if we could get it in the hands of old-timers suffering from neurodegenerative diseases.

Peptides For Human Consumption: To Allow, Or Not To Allow?

Q: One final question I wanted to ask you revolves around the topic of advertising peptides for human consumption. We’ve talked a lot about their potential use in interested health enthusiasts, but it’s a difficult topic to approach because they’re strictly labeled as research chemicals. How do you get around this legal issue?

A: For the most part, the majority of studies done on therapeutic peptides are conducted experimentally in cell cultures and some animals.

Very few reliable human studies are published for any of the therapeutic peptides in my store, let alone for any peptide.

In many other countries, especially those in the Eastern part of the world, human studies can happen in countries with less red tape and fewer regulations.

Peptide use by physicians for patients is a much more accepted practice in those countries compared to the United States.

Q: Why do you think the United States is especially hesitant to explore therapeutic peptides further?

A: In all fairness, I definitely understand the fear surrounding peptides.

When you’re dealing with bio-identical compounds, there are many more unknown factors to deal with.

You would need to thoroughly vet them in animal studies and practically guarantee the absence of significant side effects.

As long as you’re using peptides that are solvent-free and extremely pure, there’s no reason why we can’t see human studies in the near future.

The Limitless Life Nootropics Promise

Q: One final question for you, Chris. Is there anything worthwhile you want to share with the audience about your company and why they should rely on you as their only source for legitimately manufactured peptides?

A: If you buy your peptides from us, I can 100% guarantee top-notch quality that you would only find if you bought them directly from compounding pharmacies.

I’m a person of extremely high moral standards and I’m an absolute stickler about quality.

While other companies may be willing to sell subpar-quality peptides for a higher price point and rake in more money, that’s a route I absolutely refuse to go down.

If I feel a peptide isn’t up to my standards of effectiveness or quality, I won’t put it in my store.

I know that Jay is someone who possesses an exceptional amount of integrity and he will only promote people who share his vision of quality and assurance.
