In a publication in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, another study showed that using GHK-Cu in rats for 3-4 months doubled their follicle size and increased their hair follicles by 80% in the anagen or growth phase.

These effects were essentially a stimulation of the follicular cell proliferation, resulting in an enlargement of the anagen follicles from vellus to terminal type (therapy) or maintenance of pre-bald terminal follicles (prevention). 

A copper-binding peptide had the effect of follicular enlargement on the back skin of fuzzy rats, covering the vellus follicles; the effect was similar to that of topical minoxidil.

In another study published by The International Peptide Society, researchers discovered that GraftCyte, a hair growth product that contains GHK-Cu, can help stimulate hair growth in hair transplantation surgeries.

PTD-DBM stops the binding process of CXXC5 and disheveled protein, allowing the Wnt/β-catenin-signaling pathway to progress smoothly.

In a rodent study published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, researchers discovered that PTD-DBM could help grow new hair follicles after 28 days of applying PTD-DBM on the bare skin of laboratory mice.

Apart from that, two research teams led by Professor Chung Jin Ho of Seoul National University Hospital and Professor Hyung Ho of Seoul National University believe that adiponectin deficiency has a direct relationship with the severity of androgenetic alopecia.

They discovered a site where the protein binds to its receptor. 

Therefore, they designed a peptide that can act as an adiponectin from its original sequence. This is to allow transdermal delivery and determine if the adiponectin receptor will be activated in the laboratory and in vivo. 

That peptide is now known as APN5. 

The results showed that hair follicles grew faster when they used the APN5 peptide. 

Not only that, but in a rodent study, it was shown that APN5 penetrates the skin and helps with hair growth in vivo

When 0.007% of the APN5 peptide was applied to rats, it showed a hair growth-promoting effect similar to that of minoxidil 3%, a hair growth agent approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). 

According to the research teams, this result shows that APN5 peptide has a superior effect than minoxidil in terms of concentration.

Thymosin Beta-4

Thymosin beta-4 is a 4.9-kDa actin-sequestering peptide that contains 43 amino acids. It plays an important role in cell motility and promotes wound healing, angiogenesis, and hair growth.

The researchers found that compared to the control mice, the mRNA and protein expression of MMP-2 and VEGF were increased in the Tβ4 overexpressing mice, while the level of E-cadherin (E-cad) remained the same. 

Further, in the Tβ4 global knockout mice, the mRNA and protein levels of MMP-2 and VEGF decreased dramatically and the level of E-cad was stable.

Based on the above results, we believe that Tβ4 may regulate the levels of VEGF and MMP-2 via the Wnt/β-catenin/Lef-1-signaling pathway to influence the growth of blood vessels around HFs and activate cell migration.
